Since 2001, Martin has been teaching firearms to students and the general public. This has included: CPL applicants, law enforcement officers, legislators, foreign contractors, college professors, firearm component manufacturers, private security agencies and more throughout the State of Michigan. Martin has also trained and certified firearms instructors from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa and from Canada. His credentials and training include being an appointed NRA Training Counselor (being able to certify individuals to become firearms instructors), a certified Law Enforcement and Civilian Firearms Instructor (holding every NRA instructor discipline and rating), and a certified NRA Chief Range Safety Officer. Martin has been involved in law enforcement for several years in the public, private and judicial sectors. This has included being a Deputy Sheriff, Staff Sergeant and Range Officer with the Allegan County Sheriff snowmobile and reserve divisions, a Court Officer with the Kalamazoo County District Court, a R/Sergeant with the Decatur Police Dept., and is currently a Court Deputy and Supervisor of the Van Buren County Sheriff Court Services Division. Martin takes pride at being an NRA Life Member, supporter of concealed carry, national reciprocity, abolishment of pistol free zones, and the right to bear arms. Martin is also a member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA), International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), and the National Association of Legal Professionals (NALS). Martin also co-owns a restaurant near Irons MI, just north of Baldwin. Being right across the street from the Little Manistee/Lincoln Hills ORV trail system, the restaurant mainly caters to vacationers, hunters, snowmobilers, and ORV riders. Martin is an avid ATV rider being a supporter of ORV road shoulder usage in northern Michigan counties while also being an ORV, Snowmobile and Marine Safety Instructor certified with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Martin and his family live primarily in Portage, while also having a residence in Luther, located in Lake County.
